The successful candidate will benefit from having:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (minimum of 12 credits in Accounting preferred).
• Minimum 4 years of professional tax experience in public accounting or a combination of public accounting and corporate tax experience required; or 5 years of experience in the accounting/financial administration aspects of mutual funds.
• Knowledge of tax principles and policies applicable to mutual funds and securities in which they invest preferred.
• Strong interest in income tax issues related to investment companies.
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
• Strong math, calculation, reasoning and analyzing abilities.
• Ability to work both independently and as a team member.
• Adaptability and flexibility to work flow.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment, deadline driven environment.
• Flexibility to work additional hours during peak business periods.
• Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Must understand or quickly learn the tax issues associated with a broad range of investments which may include: municipal bonds, common stocks, preferred securities, convertible securities, REITS; passive foreign investment companies (PFICs), high yield debt, and various derivatives.
